Welcoming People into the Studio

When a person comes in, say hello and introduce yourself. Welcome them to the Studio.

Ask about their experience with the Procession and the Studio. (Have you been in the Procession before? Have you seen it?)

If someone's new to the Procession, give them a sense of what the Procession is - and of what Procession art is.

Have each person sign in; this is essential for liability protection. The sign-in is on the front desk.

Show new arrivals around the Studio, and orient them to the materials and to the possibilities for creating: batik, tag board headdresses, papier mache, music shakers, luminary.

Note: Before folks make luminary, we ask that they take a workshop to get started; workshops are Thursday evenings 6-8 and Sunday afternoons 1-3.

Invite people to donate to Procession, to assist with maintaining a well-supplied art studio. (Earthbound Productions is a federal non-profit organization dependent on donations to operate.) There's a jug for donations on the sign-in desk.

Other information to offer newcomers:

  • Where and how to register for the Procession: registration forms are on the sign-in desk, and registration can also be done at the Procession website. The registration fee is two cans for food for the Thurston County Food Bank; they can bring that to the registration table on Procession day.
  • How to volunteer: Fill out a volunteer sheet, and give the sheet to Eli so he can follow up.
  • What workshops are available: Workshops are posted on the wall next to the Studio door.
