Black Allyship Group
The intention of our Black Allyship group is for us in the white racial majority to expand our understanding of the Black experience in America. We realize we have work to do if we want to more successfully align our words and actions with our best intentions. We are doing this by seeking out and listening closely to Black voices - authors, artists, advocates.
We meet at 6:30pm on the first Monday of the month, each month. Sometimes we discuss a book, sometimes we watch a film or a live-stream. We process any in-person experiences we've had that month as we attend events put on by Black organizations or individuals. We are enriched.
We invite everyone at CIC to do this work, together with us, or individually. For ideas about how to participate on your own, check out the "Black Allyship BINGO card" we have compiled.

You will see a column of ideas related to exploring Black culture, history, and media; to getting involved politically, to getting specific feedback from a Black thought-leader, and to giving of your "time, talent and treasure" to support antiracism work. When you click on a square, it will take you to suggestions. For example, if you click on "listen to a podcast produced by Black content creators," you will be taken to a list of podcasts to try.
