Subsidized log shipments do not make sense
Some citizens of Olympia are concerned about the Port of Olympia.
Property taxes paid to the Port of Olympia are large. We subsidize this organization. With this proposed Weyerhaeuser deal at the port, the port financial numbers need to be redefined.
What is the true level of indebtedness of the port? Why should we subsidize over 150 logging trucks per day through our town? We have had several logging trucks overturn on our streets.
The few port jobs are not worth the danger of this subsidized financial deal.
