Event - 20260715Ted Ryle: The Beatitudes
Summer Series from Ted Ryle: weekly noon-hour practice class: a nine-session journey through the Aramaic Beatitudes, moving body, breath, and voice together. (offered in person at Ted's house... see address below) The Aramaic beneath the familiar "Blessed are..." sayings carries a wider, more embodied sense, closer to "ripe are those" or "aligned are they" than a blessing handed down from on high. Each beatitude names an inner movement: beginning with grounding, feeling, softening, welcoming even our shadowed parts to the table, and from there, an pivot - mercy giving birth to grace - that turns all that inward work back out into the world as love, peace, and resilience. Each hour will move through:
- Arrival: a short elemental breath practice to settle in with
- The Full Arc: a body prayer moving through all nine gestures, chanted call-and-response in the original Aramaic, root to crown
- A Deep Dwell: one beatitude, chanted and moved slowly, with time to simply sit with what arises
- The Arc Again: the same body prayer, this time guided in English, closing the circle
No experience with Aramaic, chant, or movement practice is needed. Everything is taught in the room, one line at a time. Come as you are, and come as many weeks as you're able; each session stands on its own even as the nine build toward something together.
I hope you'll join us.
