"Serving the Olympia community..."

Welcome to Earthbound Productions

Earthbound Productions will not be staging the Luminary Procession on Friday, April 24th, and will not be staging the Procession of the Species on Saturday, April 25th, as a participating organization in the City of Olympia's 2020 Spring Arts Walk weekend.

Fine colleagues of reflective appreciation for the community in which we live ~

Earthbound Productions will not be staging the Luminary Procession on Friday, April 24th, and will not be staging the Procession of the Species on Saturday, April 25th, as a participating organization in the City of Olympia's 2020 Spring Ar ts Walk weekend.

We are not, however, "canceling" the Procession of the Species Celebration for 2020. Instead, we are re-positioning production scenarios that will best match the needs of our community with dates later this year.

As an organization, we will remain fully engaged with the challenges of the present. As holders of a truly inclusive "invitation" reflective of our community, we recognize we also have a broad consideration to uphold for the future. And that consideration is the intention of the Procession itself.

Culturally, the Procession seeks to advance greater appreciation, understanding and protection of the natural environment. But fundamentally, what the Procession truly offers thru our participation is a story of who we are as a community. And like any story, the reach of its presentation resides in the beauty of how it is told. In our telling, on Procession day, all who are present literally become the stage upon which the story is shared. There is no separation - whether on the sidewalks or on the streets; the acceptance of who and how we can be as an inspired society is there for all to see.

Certainly, "inspired acceptance" has its place as we continue to formulate our collective response to the the Corvid 19 virus. Even so, the Procession itself is not what it is needed now. What is needed now is space. Space for people to absorb and dissolve agitation; to learn new behaviors and re-exam old ones; to keep an eye out for the elderly; to learn to sight and forecast who are most vulnerable - including our professional caregivers; to recognize racial backlash and to learn how to publicly articulate what is just; to learn from our present restraints to better address the required responses for climate change that remain upon our horizon.

Whether in the short term or long term, our community will eventually seek to extend itself in a collective, compassionate response to the challenges we face. There will need to be a stage for that. And we, as organizers of the Procession of the Species Celebration, will be there to contribute our part in providing it.

With the finest of considerations for our inspired well-being,
-Eli Sterling, Director
