How to Find Personal Success Every Day

Members share their pride in even the "smallest" moments of everyday triumph and victory.

One day in our forums, Beliefnet member deep within shared this invitation: "I used to say "You did that!" to my youngest when he was a toddler - meaning, 'Wow!' or 'Check it out!' I realized how great it would be if every time I finished the laundry or just stayed patient all day at work, someone would say, 'Wow, you did that!' Let's think of the little victories, and celebrate them together. Because so often, it's hard for those that aren't in our skin to know that the 'little' tasks are hard won for many of us."

It's true - every day, we accomplish something. Reminding ourselves, "I did that!" is one way to let the small "ups" help us get through the big "downs." From getting the laundry done to hosting a party, here are some of the daily triumphs our readers shared.

I worked out, and I've got the laundry going as well as the dishwasher. I resisted getting the Twinkies that were on sale at the grocery store!

Take Some Time, Renew a Friendship

I took an hour drive and visited a friend most of the day. I have someone that I know cares about me, bipolor or not. I feel pretty good right now, to say the least!

Keep Your Cool

Given the mental and emotional state I've experienced in recent days, my accomplishment is that I haven't bitten anyone's head off. Of course, if a telemarketer calls, they're fair game!

Go Offline and Explore

I've taken some time off from the Internet. I promised myself that I would limit my computer time during the summer and get out of the house to try new things. I've really experienced a lot and have a lot more confidence in myself.

Welcome Others into Your Home

I hosted a BBQ and welcomed 20 people into my home, fed them and made sure they all had fun. I DID THAT!

Share Your Voice

Last night I dared to disagree with several other people at a meeting, something I usually am afraid to do. I did that.

Take a Time-Out

I am actually taking the time to do something for me, which is sometimes hard when acting as a caregiver. Guess what, I did that.

Take a Small Leap of Faith

I decided not complain today and I went out with my son. We had a nice lunch and bought $1 scratch tickets. I won $50 on the first ticket! I did that.

Give a Little, Reap Big Rewards

I spent half my food budget for the month to help my son cover registration for his expired license plates. I didn't want him to get a ticket then owe even more -- besides, rice and beans are good! I did that!
