2nd "Bike Your Watershed" This Summer

Help make the second annual "Bike Your Watershed" an even bigger success than last year's event! Last year 100 cyclists participated; organizers hope to increase participation to 200 this year. So grab your bike and join other riders in the community Sunday, July 27. The ride starts at Tumwater Historical Park, off the Deschutes Parkway on 777 Simmons Road in Tumwater and it features three possible routes: a 5-mile ride around Capitol Lake, a 20-mile ride that goes along the Chehalis-Western Trail south to an optional stop at a local cider mill, and a 30-mile loop. Riders can start anytime between 8 and 10 a.m.

Food, beverages and a support vehicle for emergencies will be provided along with watershed education booths and creative activities for kids. Come and learn more about your local watershed and find out ways you can protect its valuable natural resources. This fun, recreational ride is sponsored by the Washington Department of Ecology, local governments and area businesses. Riders can register on line and find more information, including route maps, at http://web.mac.com/bikeyourwatershed/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html.
