Thurston County Solid Waste Seeking Bio-bag Sellers

Schools and businesses in Thurston County can now have food waste collected and used for composting, and county residents will soon be able to do the same. These efforts will greatly reduce the solid waste generated in Thurston County and can save customers money. However, plastic bags cannot be used in the collection bins so residents will need to know locations where they can buy biodegradable bags.

If your business sells biodegradable bags, please contact Terri Thomas at Thurston County Solid Waste at 360-754-2896 or thomaste@co.thurston.wa.us to be added to the resource list. Thurston County will be publicizing locations where these compostable bags are sold. If your business is interesting in carrying these items, you can request a list of manufacturers and distributors to contact about biodegradable products.
