Recycle Appliances at Community Recycle Days

Thurston County residents (not businesses) will have several opportunities in May to recycle old household items such as tires, large appliances like stoves and refrigerators, and computers for minimal or no cost at two Community Recycle Day events: Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thurston County Fairgrounds lower parking lot, 3054 Carpenter Road SE, near Lacey and Saturday, May 17 at the South Sound Speedway, 3720 183rd Ave. SW in Rochester. These special events encourage participants to dispose of these potentially hazardous items safely and cheaply.

Tally sheets are available online at http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/wwm (click on Recycling, then click on Community Recycle Days) with a list of exactly what items will be accepted and the cost of each. Many smaller appliances will be accepted free of charge. The sheet is also included on the back page of the County's Spring 2008 edition of "Talkin' Trash," which is mailed to all Thurston County households. For more information on disposal and recycling programs, contact Thurston County Solid Waste at 360-357-2491, TDD at 360-754-2933 or visit http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/wwm.
