Help Restore Percival Creek

Volunteers are needed to help Tumwater Stream Team maintain native shrubs on Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 9 a.m. to noon along the banks of Percival Creek.

Nature trails for walking and viewing wildlife are planned for the future use of land owned by the City of Tumwater along Percival Creek north of Sapp Road. A habitat restoration plan has been developed for the future park to restore the riparian area and to enhance habitat for coho salmon and other wildlife. Volunteers are needed for weeding and mulching previous plantings.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Percival Creek and Sapp Rd, just west of Antsen St. in Tumwater. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the weather. Tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided.

Stream Team will be hosting volunteer work parties on a monthly basis on several Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the fall, including Saturday, September 22 at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, October 13 at Percival Creek, and November 13 at Tumwater Valley Municipal Golf Course.

For additional information on all volunteer opportunities, call Sara del Moral at 360-754-4140.
