Spring Clean Your Porch!

Thurston County's spring Community Recycle Days are here. The first event will be Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Sound Speedway. The second event will be Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thurston County Fairgrounds.

Items accepted for a nominal fee, working or not, include Refrigerated Appliances (limit 4 per vehicle) $15 each: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners; Non-refrigerated Appliances (no plastic-cased appliances) $5 each: dishwashers, washer/dryers, hot water tanks, stoves; Microwaves $10 each; Office Equipment $5 each: computers (CPUs), printers, scanners fax machines, and small copiers (under 50 lbs); All sizes and types of TVs, Computer Moniters, Laptops $10 each; Entertainment Electronics $2 each: VCRs, DVDs, CD players, stereos; Tires $2 each without rims, $3 each with rims (passenger tires only, no tractor or truck tires).

Items accepted free for charge, working or not, include Bicycles: with or without tires; Electronics: power tools, keyboards, computer mice, phones (all types, including cell phones), circuit boards and speakers; Lawnmowers: riding or push; Small Motors: chainsaws, weed eaters, outboard boat motors; Plastic Flowerpots: 2-gallon or larger only.

Goodwill staff will be available to accept clean and unbroken re-usable items such as clothing, sports gear, toys, small household appliances that work, kitchenware, and small furniture. Items are accepted at the discretion of Goodwill staff. Please do not bring large items, such as couches, to Recycle Day events because Goodwill has limited trailer space. Check with individual Goodwill stores instead.
