Urban Sustainability Demonstration

Gail Sullivan and Karen Nelson live in "Grandma's House," built in 1908 and located behind the Olympia Library. They have set out to show that one doesn't have to build a new home or move to twenty acres in the country to live sustainably, and will open their home to the public as evidence of the possibilities of urban sustainability.

By conserving energy, reducing waste, growing their own food, creating a non-toxic home environment, utilizing recycled materials, and making plans to reduce water consumption, they are striving to define and embody a sustainable urban lifestyle.

To see the concept in action, please plan to attend the free demonstration. It will occur on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. at "Grandma's House," 311 9th Ave SE in Olympia. The event is a continuation of the South Sound Chapter of the Northwest Earth Institute's Community Forum 2000 Series.
