Salmon Forum October 12

Is Thurston County ready to take the steps necessary to ensure the survival of wild salmon stocks? Do we even know what ecological and social hurdles need to be crossed to ensure salmon recovery?

To help answer these questions SPEECH and Thurston County invite you to a hardhitting forum entitled "Salmon Recovery: Myth and Reality" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 12th in Room 280 of Building 1 at the Thurston County Courthouse.

A panel of diverse voices will explore these issues and engage the audience in a frank assessment designed to provide input to county leaders. The forum is geared towards the environmental community and open to general public.

Speakers include Mark Swartout of Thurston County, Jeff Cederholm of the Washington Department of Natural Resources, David Troutt of the Nisqually Tribe, and Eric Espenhorst of Friends of the Earth.

The forum is cosponsored by SPEECH, People for Puget Sound, Black Hills Audubon Society, Stream Team, South Sound GREEN, and Nisqually Stream Stewards. For more information, call SPEECH at 786-6349.
