Summer Solstice Celebration

The 1997 Community Celebration of the Summer Solstice will take place at Marathon Park at the south end of Capitol Lake on Saturday, June 21 beginning at 3 pm.

Bring flowers, a drum, a light heart and a picnic blanket if you wish, and help us rekindle ancient ties to the Earth and its rhythms as we celebrate the sun, sustainer of all life, with a ritual at 4 pm.

We will weave garlands, play games, drum, dance and cast petals upon the waters to symbolize the abundance the Earth brings. Earthwork done by students in the Earth Service Corps and community members who have recently completed the Northwest Earth Institute courses in "Deep Ecology" and "Voluntary Simplicity" will be celebrated.

This event is being co-sponsored by the Sustainable Community Roundtable and Earthbound Productions. For more information, call Gita Moulton at 352-9351.
