Olympia's Water Future

Transition Olympia, an organization planning for the post-oil future, will sponsor a forum on the future availability of fresh water in Olympia on Tuesday, April 20, from 7:00–9:00 pm at the MIXX 96 Meeting Room, at the corner of State and Washington in downtown Olympia.

The program will focus on the effects of a reduced water supply, i.e., a reduced supply from summer drought involving less rainfall, the melting of glaciers, reduced flow into the aquifers and the possibility of saltwater intrusion. Explore such personal implications as the need to reduce consumption with on-site management including rain gardens, catchment systems, grey water, and rain barrels, to name a few possible mitigation measures.
