Composting Center To Divert Waste from Large Producers

The ability to recycle wood, yard and food waste is about to get easier in South Sound.

Silver Springs Organics, a subsidiary of Silver Springs Cattle Co., has built a state-approved composting center for organic waste materials at 13911 Military Road S.E., Tenino.

Silver Springs Organics will be the first large-scale composting plant in South Sound capable of turning food wastes from schools, hospitals, restaurants and other large generators into a soil-enhancing product.
