Endangered Species Act Seminar

Several species of salmon and steelhead are now listed under the Endangered Species Act. This November, a seminar sponsored by the Thurston Regional Planning Council will discuss the listing and what it means for elected officials and area residents.

What do governments need to do separately and together to recover salmon? What measures will be needed to recover salmon? To what extent are our current efforts sufficient? These are some of the questions that the seminar intends to address. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from representatives of various federal, state and community interests regarding their perspectives on salmon recovery issues.

Organizers hope that the seminar will broaden mutual understanding of issues, enhance coordination and build momentum toward effective actions. This event will take place on Saturday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Olympia Center in the Multi-Purpose Room, 222 N. Columbia Street.
