Special Event & School Functions
We can assist you with ideas for entertainment, including performance, lessons and live bands.

When bringing dance lessons to an event, we give a demonstration of Salsa, then invite guests to learn the basic step. A fun and easy way to learn is by forming a circle and rotating partners. This also creates a great way to get acquanted and comfortable dancing with each other. Guests will go home with smiles on their faces and great memories!

For music, we encourage hiring a band, as live music adds greatly to the experience of your event. There are several bands with a Latin-sound that we recommend, varying from big-band Salsa to smaller groups, thus we usually can find something that fits your budget and event.

For the all-out Salsa party, we highly recommend Cambalache. They are an exciting band with an authentic Cuban Salsa sound. Whether you hire them as a full band or partial band, their music retains its power and flavor. Here is a sample from their 2010 performance at Portland's Salsa en la calle:

For other events, where you are looking for the spice that Latin music provides, but not the all-out Salsa party, there are wonderful local bands: Ocho Pies plays Caribbean tunes with two guitars, a vocalist and percussionist; the amazing Joe Baque on Jazz piano plays with an upright basist and Cuban congero; plus many more!

As every celebration is different, we work to match our offerings within your needs. There are many things to consider when hiring a live band, and with our years of experience as musicians and performers, we can help to guide your event to success.
