"Sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Funding Program"

About Us

Purpose

Our mission is to inform and share ideas with students about military reality and alternative post-high school career opportunities.  We provide students and communities with factual information about military service, and life after the military.

We engage in a wide variety of events, often in collaboration with other local groups or schools:

  • Student interactions with armed forces’ recruiters
  • Highlight increased enlistment campaigns targeting students
  • Information to balance military marketing strategies with facts or questions
  • Women’s issues in the military
  • Class, race, and gender and sexual discrimination within the military
  • The effects of depleted uranium on soldiers and the environment
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and its affects on soldiers, families, marriages
  • Alternative employment opportunities, including volunteer work
  • Training in non-violent actions
  • Creating local interactive television programs to engage local students
  • Fundraising events to support summer camps, peace conferences

Students are provided with the materials and contacts necessary to initiate, or reinforce an existing peace club.  Information on scholarships, trade schools, peace programs, internships, and apprenticeships are available as well for career centers.

Program Goals

  1. To provide education and outreach services to students at Thurston County and Shelton high schools, connecting college students with high school students interested in promoting peace related programs.
  2. To plan and coordinate a well attended Know all You Can Know Forum yearly. The forum is designed by students and an advisory committee. This year’s Summer Camp (2007) looked at the connection between militarism and capitalism. Students explored how free trade agreements affect countries in Latin America, and what we are doing with oil agreements in Iraq.

Who We Are

Know All You Can Know is a growing group of students, parents, teachers, veterans, professors, school board members.  We work closely with counter recruitment groups in Tacoma, Port Townsend, Seattle, Shelton, Grays Harbor and throughout the western states.
