Join us for an amazing three day jam packed summer camp

Each summer we hold a camp. They used to be for three days, now we have one evening and the next day. Usually a Friday night and Saturday. We hold them at a local college usually. Scholarships are available.

Topics that may be covered include:

Organizing Skills

  • Nonviolent Direct Action Basics
  • Grassroots Organizing (facilitation skills, outreach, etc)
  • Campaign Strategy Sessions
  • Art in Action; films and discussion groups; website development
  • "Know Your Rights" trainings
  • Non violent civil disobedience, what it is and is not; range of activities

  • Local Opt Out campaigns/ presentations
  • JROTC and ROTC: connections to recruitment Non-violent communication

  • Live Music! All night films! Activist training!

Globalization

  • The impact of free trade in Latin America; select one country. CISPES or other organizations or individuals visit to discuss what they learned from a recent visit.
  • Resistance globally, case study of events following one of the major protests. What is effective; what can we do locally.
  • Buy Local movements, local economies, food growth and distribution.
  • Connecting the dots: The Middle East trade agreements, peak oil and the war in Iraq.
