Pork for Sale
Pasture Raised, Heritage Pork
No pork available in 2015.
Our pigs are either processed at Home Meats in Kamilche or Heritage Meats in Rochester. Home Meats is a licensed Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) custom butcher shop. Heritage Meats is a USDA approved facility. This ensures an approved and inspected level of cleanliness and safety.
How much meat can I expect to get?
Our pigs typically weigh between 100-150 pounds at the time of slaughter. The edible amount is approximately 65% of the total weight.
What does the buyer need to do?
After an order has been placed through The Iron Horse Farm, the buyer must call the processor and discuss how s/he would like the meat processed and pay for the processing over the phone. The going rate is 60 cents/pound for fresh cut meat, 90 cents/pound for cured meat. It will take up to three weeks after the pig is slaughtered to have the meat ready if any of the meat is cured, such as with bacon, hams, or sausage.
What does the buyer need to know?
The Iron Horse Farm raises its pigs with love and respect. Our pigs are rotated through pastures of tall fescue, orchard grass and clover. They are treated to organic produce and fruit when available. We love our pigs and they show it. You will feel great after eating our pork.
